He knows she no longer wants him, and he can't blame her. He's trying his best to be a good man, but no matter what he does, he can't forget the man he will become. In the future, he hurts her time and again. He kills their beloved mentor, practices infidelity, and chooses a whore over her. He'll never understand how he becomes that man, how he can make such choices as choosing Emma Frost over his beautiful, cherished, and wholesome Jean Grey, but he knows he does.
Perhaps he should move away from her. Maybe that would be the honorable thing to do. Surely, it's the only way to keep from hurting her, but he can't deny the feelings he has for her. Losing her would be more painful by far than never taking another breath of air. He can't do the honorable thing. He can't turn away from her, but he can let her go when she turns away. He can let her go, and he can cry himself to sleep every night without her. He can keep hoping for a miracle, too, that somehow, some way, he doesn't grow to be the man who breaks her heart.
