She didn't cry when her father hit her for the first time. She didn't cringe when her mother took a knife to her. She didn't scream when she saw her first Vampire.
Now, five years later, she doesn't cry because she's killed a man. She acts like his blood doesn't bother her. She says she's fine. She's "five by five". Nothing can get to her. She reminds herself what doesn't kill her makes her stronger, but all the while, there's a scared, little girl hiding inside of her crying out both for helped and to be loved just once more.
