The wind moans his name, and rain pours from her darkening, blue eyes as she stands alone at his grave, once more feeling like the lost, little girl he'd found that fateful day in Cairo.

Who would have ever thought that she and Jean Grey, of any incarnation, would end up being friends, but both women know that's exactly where they're headed. She looks forward to their next talk and the next time the girl makes her smile again.

She wishes she could tell her friend that she is her light, her one persistent hope, in this world of darkness, but she knows she eventually makes everything she touches go as dark as her Demonic soul, so in the silence, she sits, she watches, and she loves Kitty from afar.

He'll let her have this moment, raving over how she just kicked those young punks' asses back in the bar, partially because she needs it and partially because he knows the fear will come later. It's not a nice thing to have people fear you for no good reason, as they both know from prior experience, but when the fear does kick in, when she realizes how people, even her friends, now look at her, he'll be there for her. He used to think he'd be there for her forever, but now Logan knows he'll be there only as long as his own, mortal life lets him. He lights a cigar and waits.

Slowly, her wide-eyed gaze travels from her computer monitor to her dragon, who's now looking up at her and thumping his tail expectantly. "He is cute," she finally says, sinking back down into her seat, "but don't worry." She gathers the dragon into her arms. "He'll never take your place. It's me and you forever, buddy." She kisses him, and he coos.

But it has come. Her family is against each other, and the one man who kept them united for years can no longer help them. She stands alone at his grave as the rain and her tears begin to fall. She wishes he was here now. She yearns for his advice and his kindly, guiding hand upon her shoulder. She might not have always agreed with his ways, but everything was so much easier when he had been there to help.

She knows what he would say; he'd guide her to listen to her heart. The problem is he's still not here. She's still depressed. She's still alone. She's still scared. And the wind howls.

Looking back, she realizes that those meals are some of her favorite times, because few could complain when they were busy chowing down on good food.

But food holds nothing for her any more. She drowns in blood she consumes, and in the daylight, whispers, "Don't let it take me, Wolvy."

These two haven't even kissed yet, but she always thought they were meant to be together, like she and Piotr. She wanted them to be the next eternal lovebirds, but life has a funny way of changing everything. Kitty sighs, grabs a second spoon, hands it to Jean, and digs in deeper.
