Casting Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Storm, Shadowcat, and Granny Weatherwax

Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman

When I think of Wonder Woman, there's only one actress who's ever come to mind as being able to play her with all her personality, strength, dominance, and unending, fighting spirit. That woman is Lucy Lawless, who first came to real fame as Xena, Warrior Princess. She kicked butt as Xena for years, and if they're going to make the Wonder Woman movie actually happen, they'll be idiots not to try to get her.

Eva Longoria as Catwoman

I admit it: I've been hooked on Eva as Catwoman ever since the Sheba commercials. I like Anne Hathaway, but she was only okay as a young Catwoman. Two huge parts of Catwoman's personality is her confident sensuality and her love of cats. Eva already has these two down pat, and I'd love to see her try her paw at one of my all-time favorite leading ladies.

Vanessa Williams as Ororo Munroe

Ororo Munroe is an Earth-bound Goddess and not an easy woman to cast. As much as I dislike Halle Barry, she almost had Ororo's strength down, but she completely lacked her passion and strong religious spirit. There wasn't a single "Goddess!" in any of the movies that I've seen, and her personality wasn't much better than cardboard.

Vanessa is already adept at playing strong and passionate women. I doubt she'd have a problem with Ororo's religious part of her personality, and I believe she'd come much better to accurately portraying the whole character than Halle ever did.

Michelle Tratchenberg as Kitty Pryde

As Dawn Summers of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame, Michelle mastered all levels of emotion except sensuality, and although Kitty can definitely be sexy, that's not a big part of her character. She is, however, much more than the shy, background kid they've been making her be in the movies. She needs, and deserves, an actress who can bring all the many parts of her character to film, not just the shy kid but also the young girl who actually successfully leads the X-Men in a mission when she's only fourteen years of age and shows so many levels of maturity beyond that. In her first years with the X-Men, Kitty did everything from pitching a fit over her parents divorcing, Storm cutting her hair, and the Professor demoting her to the New Mutants to sacrificing her freedom and agreeing to marry a Morlock to save her friends. She's come through time and again for her friends and family, not just as the grown, kick-butt woman she is in comics today but back when she was not much more than a child, too. I believe Michelle, if given the opportunity, could bring all of that out, and I know she'd love a chance to kick butt better than Buffy, as Kitty has so adeptly done in several different series over the years. Let's not forget, after all, that she was one of Logan's first proteges and almost killed him while under Ogin's possessed tutelage. She's one Hell of a young woman who can pack a punch. Michelle would have delightful fun getting to deliver that punch, and I'm confident Kitty's fans, including yours truly, would not be disappointed.

Maggie Smith as Granny Weatherwax

I was originally planning on doing all comic book characters, but of the other two characters I'd planned on doing, I couldn't quick find great pictures for her tonight (Brenda Song as Jubilee) and I chose to use the other one in another fancasting challenge at another comm (Pamela Anderson as the White Queen). I had wanted to do one or two actual book characters, so at that point, I stopped and thought of which book characters I love who I could easily cast. I'd thought of Maggie as Granny Weatherwax before, and she again instantly sprung to mind. Dame Smith was great as Minerva, but she could really pack a magical punch as Granny.
