My Christmas Series for 2014 4/4

As always, all my 12 days of Christmas stories are dedicated to my beloved and always inspirational Drew, who always keeps us going, no matter what. I love you, my darling!!!!!!!!!!! Belated Merry Christmas and a very happy new year, my love!! Thank God we aren't spending this new year's in the hospital again, and thank God, as well, for all he's done for us!!
I thought about trying to pen two more stories late, but I just don't have it in me. I thought about saying that I won't pen the other two out of honor of our dearly beloved and departed Rocket, but I fear he wouldn't like that. Instead, I'm just calling an end to 2014's 12 Days of Christmas and offering these other two stories, one of which was written for a friend as part of a gift-giving challenge, in the stead of those two that won't happen in 2014 (which is now officially over any way).
One is Scorpion's Toby/Happy in Happy's First Christmas, rated PG-13/T, and the other stars Once Upon A Time's RumBelle with mentions of Captain Swan, Outlaw Queen, Charming Snow, and even a little Red Cricket along the way:
Belle sighed as she stirred cinnamon into her chocolate. Emma had gotten her addicted to the flavoring, and although she rather liked the drink, it was doing to soothe her tonight. She had been watching the door for the last several hours, almost ever since closing her library for the night, and although she had seen practically every couple in Storybrooke stop underneath the sprig of mistletoe Granny had hung that afternoon, she had yet to see her husband even appear by her side.
Her lips pursed together as she stirred the cinnamon a little more briskly than was needed. She was almost tempted to dig his dagger out of her purse and use it to call him, but she would never betray his trust in such a way. She would never use the dagger on him, no matter what, and it would just take about taking have control over Rumplestiltskin to convince him to grant her a display of affection where the whole town could see it.
Charming, Robin Hood, Hook, and even Archie had no such similar qualms, however. Everybody expected Charming to be romantic, and he certainly lived up to his namesake, grabbing Snow every time they walked underneath the mistletoe, which had been several times tonight. Robin had caught Regina underneath the seemingly magical sprig and dipped her as he passionately kissed her, proving not only to the former Evil Queen but to the entire town where his heart truly lay.
She had witnessed Killian's hook slide underneath Emma's leather jacket when they had kissed, and even Archie had managed to catch Ruby underneath the mistletoe. They might not be an item yet, but there was heat between those two. Belle liked to think she could spot a potential couple with ease after all the romance books she had read, and Archie and Ruby would definitely make a great couple. Hmm. They could call it The Cricket and the Wolf, she mused to herself, finally managing to lift her spirits and her lips into a true smile. Or perhaps The Wolf and the Cricket. Ruby might insist on her name being first.
Almost as though she could sense her friend's thoughts, Ruby suddenly popped up beside Belle. She didn't refill her cup but rather sat another cup down in front of her. "The gentleman in the front," she spoke in a low, conspiratorial tone, "insisted on paying not just for your drink but for your refill in this cup."
"Oh?" Belle asked, looking up with raised eyebrows. "Did you tell him that I'm a married woman?"
Ruby smiled slyly. "I think he already knows," she answered, her gaze ushering Belle's to the cup in question.
Belle was more than a little surprised to see that the cup Ruby had set before her was the cup she had once chipped when her beloved Rumplestiltskin had spooked her. She lifted it in surprise, then looked at the doorway. She barely noticed that Ruby had merged back into the crowd as her eyes locked with her husband's and her breath caught in increased surprise. Not only was he standing below the mistletoe, looking as nervous as a young lad about to embark upon his first date, but he was dressed in the same suit of clothing he'd once worn when he had presented her with a rose and was again holding a single, red rose.
When their eyes met, she knew he wasn't paying attention to anybody else. He didn't care if the whole town was in Granny's. He didn't care if everybody whispered that he had gone soft or if the whole world saw him waiting patiently, humbly, and nervously for her. A smile burst onto Belle's face, and her blue eyes shone with the love she'd felt for him for so long.
She sat her cup down and raced to her True Love. All the other couples were forgotten. Everything else was meaningless. All that mattered was that he was there for her, clearly loving her as much as he had when they had first fallen in love together. She'd never doubted that he loved her, but she had truly believed that he would never put on such a public display of affection.
He had always cared so greatly about what the world thought of him, but he obviously didn't care who thought what of their relationship. She gave herself a little, mental kick as she raced to him. She should've known that when he asked her to marry him. She knew he wasn't the same man he had been and that he truly loved her, but still, this came as a wonderful surprise.
He was waiting for her when she reached him. His strong arms caught her as she came to a stop right before him and swung her closer to him still. He had not cared much for modesty the entire time she had known him, and as he brought her as close as he could, through their clothing, she felt his immediate response to her. Yes, indeed, he did still love, and want, her as desperately and mightily as he once had!
"Rumple." Her laughter twinkled between them. "I don't believe you -- "
He held her in his arms, the rose being almost crushed behind her back. Their eyes spoke everything that was truly needed to be said as he cut off her words with his mouth. His lips touched hers almost reverently at first, but then his tongue swept in as bold and daring as he'd been her entire life. He plundered her there more greatly than Hook had Emma, and he dipped and kissed her in such a way that she swooned greater than Regina had under Robin's embrace.
There was nothing shy about him as there had been with Archie. He was a bold adventurer, almost taking her on the spot, and she melted into his arms, caring no more what the town thought about their embrace than Snow had about the multiple times Charming had swept her underneath the mistletoe. They were in love, they were married, and there was nothing grander than sharing that love to the utmost.
After a long while of standing there, kissing and embracing in the doorway and utterly blocking both sides of Granny's traffic, Rumplestiltskin finally lifted his mouth from his wife's. The whole town heard his giggle, and for once, there was absolutely nothing dark or menacing about his laughter. He was a man completely in love, and it sounded in that laughter. Keeping one arm dipping Belle, he made a flourishing gesture with his other arm, and he, his wife, the rose, and their cup all vanished from Granny's.
In a booth to the left, Regina pursed her lips together. "He always has known how to make an entrance. Of course he would make an exit like that." Her dark eyes started to roll, but Robin reached across the table and took her hand in his.
His thumb brushed her knuckles. "You almost sound jealous, my love. Shall we have another go at this mistletoe tryst?"
Regina paused, a sharp retort on her tongue. What he was suggesting was completely unladylike, but then, she'd never cared much for being a lady and he did make her feel so . . . So unlike her old self. So full of love and light and yes, she supposed with a giggle, finally understanding Rumplestiltskin's turn, even laughter.
Robin was already pulling her from their booth without awaiting her answer, but no matter how many other lovers kissed underneath Granny's mistletoe that year, no one could match Rumplestiltskin and his new bride, who as the lovers lined up to make another go at the mistletoe, laid his True Love down upon a bed of fresh, red roses and proved to her again and again just how much he loved her endlessly.
The End, rated a Soft R/M
