He can not seem to walk these old halls without returning every time to the room wherein he spent the most time, but tonight, he has a surprise waiting for him as he walks through the door. He's not alone, and Jake looks as surprised to see him as he is to see him. He stands in the doorway for a moment, first too shocked to speak and then uncertain what to say. At last, he does what he always has when he's not been able to voice what he's feeling: he goes to his keyboard, only it's not his any longer.

It's been years since they've been in this room, years since they've been together, but as Mark's nimble fingers move elegantly over the piano's white keys, the years quickly fall away. He no longer feels tired and old. He almost feels like a teenager again back when so much in life was new, exciting, and yes, even scary.

He hears movement as his song builds into its crescendo and looks up to see Jake walking his way. He notes the prowling swagger with which Jake moves. It's a little slower than it used to be back when they were first meeting secretly in this room away from all their friends and family, away from the world, but it's still just as sexy, if not more so.

Mark gulps down the hard ball in his throat as Somers moves closer. He looks back to his keyboard and focuses on his fingers striking the right notes. The music rises, and so, too, does the heat in the room. Jake's hand clasps his shoulder. He almost stops playing, but the music has always lived within them, aching to be released and refusing, as has their other passions, to be denied.

Mark stands, kicking the bench back away from him, as he strikes the highest notes. Jake's hands are on his shoulders, but still he has to finish the song. He finishes quickly, and just as swiftly as he does, Jake turns him into his leather-clad arms and his lips come crashing down on his. The world melts away, and it's just the two of them again. Once more, Jake is teaching Mark, and Mark realizes that some of the best song writers have been wrong all along. You can come home again, and with Jake's lips on his, Mark is home.
