The first time Abby tries to wrap her arms around Holtzmann's slender figure after they've saved New York, the lithe blonde resists. "You know," she says, looking at her through the tears welling in her eyes, "I always knew she'd come back one day. I knew you wouldn't be able to turn her down. I just didn't think she'd be the one to save you."
Abby caresses her face gently. "She might have saved me from the ghosts and the Underworld, baby, but you saved me from her disbelief long ago. Just because she saved me, baby, doesn't mean I don't still love you. I choose you," she quips with a lightly teasing grin. Her girlfriend finally lets her kiss her again.
But behind them, having just entered the room, Erin gasps. She covers her mouth immediately with her hand and backs away. They don't seem to have heard her as they keep kissing. Erin leaves with tears in her eyes thinking, So it was too late. She wasn't too late to save her, but she was too late to mend their hearts.
