"And they loved each other," Chloe said, closing the hefty textbook and peering out at her students from behind her wire-rimmed glasses. "That's what the books don't tell you -- that these two men, both so different though they've each impacted our nation's history in their own ways, loved each other."
Whispers rustled amongst her students; Chloe smiled her understanding. "They were the worst of enemies for a long time," she admitted before the vicious comments could start from those who refused to understand that two grown men could love each other so grandly, "but they're also the best of friends."
She looked up as she heard a knock on her classroom door, signaling that her husband was there for their luncheon date. She turned her attention back to her students. "They're like brothers, and their love is as legendary as they are. I should know." She winked as the bell rang. "They're two of my very best friends."
She headed to meet her other best friend, reflecting that it'd been too long since last she'd talked to the Clex boys. Life was moving too fast, but they were all happy and that's what really mattered. She met her husband with a kiss.
