The morning after the greatest event of his young life, Clark awoke to birds singing and rockets humming as they cascaded gently back down to earth. His body was entangled with the man he loved, a warm glow spread over their bodies and throughout their every fiber. He gazed down at his love's face, remembering the secrets they'd shared the night before and the eventual culmination of the love they had finally admitted. It had been the most glorious night of his life, and he'd almost been afraid to awake this morning lest it all prove to be a dream.
Feeling his sweet Clark's gaze upon him, Lex opened his eyes with a smile. He reached up and caressed Clark's handsome face. "If it were a dream," he said, as though he had read his love's innocent, concerned mind, "it was the best dream of my entire life and the one I'd keep forever above all others."
"Mine too," Clark admitted, Lex's grin growing as he blushed in the early morning light. "I love you, Lex!"
"I love you too, Clark! Welcome, my heart, to the rest of our lives!" He kissed him then, wondering how he'd ever gotten to be so lucky as to earn Clark's love and relishing in the thought that they had both finally found the happiness, which Clark deserved but he himself did not, they had been seeking their entire lives.
Clark caressed Lex, his fingers tingling while running over his smooth, sculptured skin. He broke their kiss but kept his forehead leaning against his as he assured, having seen the trouble reflected in his blue eyes, "You do deserve to be happy, Lex, and I'm going to spend the rest of my life making sure you get that happiness." He sealed his promise with a kiss.
