He doesn't know which way to turn. He's scared to make a decision lest he choose the wrong course and they get further lost or lose even more lives. Yet it's his place to make the decision. He's the Captain; he has to make the calls, rather he wants to or not.
He's staring off into the sea, his hands unsteady on the wheel for the first time in years, not really steering her this way or that, just keeping her steady until the next big swell hits, when another pair of hands covers his. Jack looks up, surprise flickering in his large, kohl-rimmed eyes, into a pair of brown eyes that stare confidently back into his.
"You can do it," Will whispers to him in the lull between storms. "Whatever decision you make, it'll be the right one. You'll get us to safety." The wind's rising again. "I love you, Jack!" Will calls above the roar.
Jack smiles for the first time in days. It will be all right; he takes the wheel and spins her toward their destiny. Will smiles, then rushes to help their crew. He knows they'll be okay as long as they have each other.
The End
