She'll remember that fateful midnight dance for as long as she lives. She doesn't think of it as the time she fell in love for that came after, only after her marriage to the kingdom's most influential royal. The dance wasn't a dream came true; she made her own dream become a reality, albeit with considerable help from her Fairy Godmother. She recognizes it as her life's turning point, the juncture where she began to go from rags to riches. After all, if the Prince hadn't fallen in love with her then, Cinderella would still be sweeping out chimneys today.
The End
Sweeping across the moonlit sky while being held gently in Goliath's strong arms makes Elisa feel different than she's ever felt before. It stirs something shut deep within her. She's not a Princess or a damsel in distress. She's strong, a cop even! She doesn't need anybody to rescue her. Yet as she leans her head against his chest and listens to his heart's song beneath her ear, Elisa can't help but to feel as though they're dancing through stars like in a fairy tale, and a part of her hopes her Prince hasn't come too late to rescue her.
The End
Her rain was their song. It was quiet in the still of the night as they made sweet and tender love while the others slept. It was calm when he rained kisses over her hands, up her arms, and over her upturned, smiling face. It sizzled when their bodies trysting in love's dance made the hot days even hotter. But when he snatched her against his side without care other than to have her closer and ravaged her supple body with both his hungry mouth and skilled hands, the thunder roared, lightning flashed, and the rain was a blessed torrent.
The End
They sit alone together, watching as other pairings dance by their hiding spot out in the open. If anybody had cared to look for them, they would have found them easily, but all the other mutants, both teacher and student, have others on their minds tonight. They watch as their headmaster dances surprisingly well with his girlfriend to the music. Their attention stays on them until Jean asks quietly, "Do you think we ever danced like that?"
Blushing, Scott pushes his glasses further up on his nose. "We were married," he looks at her, "so yeah, I think we did."
"Do you think we liked it?"
"I know I would have."
His shy voice is so quiet that she has to lean closer to hear him. "I think I would have, too." They sit in silence for a while, their gaze returning to Logan and Ororo's dance, before she speaks again. "There's a lot older you did that you wouldn't have done and a lot older you regrets."
"I don't think our marriage is one of them." Their eyes meet. The music quiets, then starts again. Scott summons all his courage to ask, "Would you like to dance?"
She beams. "I'd love to!"
The world around them fades as they dance, and for a moment, they manage to forget where, when, and why they are. Scott is either a surprisingly adept dancer or Jean is too absorbed in his smile to realize he steps on her toes. A buzz of excited thoughts causes her to look around them; the others are now watching them. She blushes while confiding, "They expect us to fall in love."
"Let them," Scott replies and turns her around again while never once admitting he already has. They don't care that the music stops; they just continue to dance.
