"You can't do this, Helena," Barbara protested yet again. "Stop thinking with your anger and start thinking with your brain again. This is going to be all of Gotham's worst and biggest criminals in one area. You can not take them on by yourself and think you're just going to skip out of there without being hurt or -- " She ignored the way the word hanging heavily between them choked her and plunged determinedly onward, " -- or worse. It's impossible!"

"I'm not by myself," Helena reminded her patiently. "I've got Dinah -- "

"She's a kid."

"And I've got you right here in my ear," Helena continued, ignoring Barbara's dismissal of the sidekick she hadn't wanted at first. She tapped the comm in her ear. "You'll be with me every step of the way, Barb. You can dictate my every move."

"Then let me dictate now! Stay!"

Helena's eyes flashed, and for a moment, Barbara was reminded of just how much she did look like her mother. "We both know that's not going to happen." She silenced the redhead's continued protest by quickly covering her open mouth with her own. Her tongue twisted around hers, urging hers to slide back into her own mouth, while her hands reached out and almost yanked her out of her chair in their urgency to pull her to her. She kept kissing her like that for at least five minutes, and when she lifted her mouth, Barbara was breathless, as she'd known she would be when she was done.

But then, again, Helena thought, she was never done with Barbara. She never would be done with the woman she loved, and that was exactly why she would make it back to her tonight. Huntress winked down at her. "Be with me," she commanded, once more tapping the comm, "and be waiting up for me so we can finish this." Then, she was gone, leaving Barbara to slam her desk and reach out for her phone, hoping that some other superhero would still be there to answer her call.

"Sorry I'm late." Helena was already apologizing before she landed next to Barbara on top of the clock tower.

Barbara smiled. She wheeled to where their private table awaited just inside the clock tower. She lit the candles before looking back to her love. Their flickering flames danced in her green eyes as she assured her, "You're just on time." They'd had a harrowing night, and Barbara was determined that not even all the crooks in Gotham would keep her love and herself from celebrating their special day.

Helena smirked down at her as she leaned in for a kiss. "Yeah, right. I should've been back hours ago, but -- "

Barbara silenced her sweetheart by placing a single finger upon her soft, full lips. "Alfred kept the food warm, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that we're here together again now. I'd stop the world, fight the world alongside you, or wait forever to get to melt with you."

Helena's eyes sparkled with mirth. "Sap," she teased in a soft whisper against Barbara's finger, but she didn't get a chance to say anything more as Barbara replaced her finger with her lips and a passionate kiss that proved her truth.

Dinah stole a glance at Barbara and Helena as they all stood on the clock tower. They'd been quiet for some time together and gazed no longer at the night but rather into each other's eyes with silent messages of love she wondered if she'd ever get to hear openly voiced.

Her heroines were as strong and amazing as she'd always thought they'd be if she ever got to meet them in person. They were as strange as she was, too, and she finally felt at home with them. Barbara had welcomed her with open arms and heart, but Helena still didn't like her.

Dinah had come to understand her displeasure by watching them together. Though she'd never admit it, the mighty Huntress was at unease, because she didn't want anybody else seeing what she shared with Barbara. Fighting together to protect Gotham and save innocents was way cool all on its own, but their true secret -- and magic -- was the unspoken love they shared.

They were melting into each other's eyes now and had forgotten she was there. Dinah wondered if they'd be kissing if she wasn't there and smiled even bigger at the thought of the undeniably steamy passion that would undoubtedly follow. She slipped away, back into her new, and truly first real home, leaving them alone to act on their unspoken thoughts and hoping that one day they'd trust her with their most cherished secret and no longer hide the amazing love she knew they shared.
