"So, you see, it's not exactly an easy decision. On the one hand, I've got this totally hunky wolfman, but then there's the doctor, too, who's beautiful and loving. They both keep me satisfied, and believe me," the brunette grinned darkly, "it's not easy to sate this girl's hunger."

"Ain't that the truth." The smaller girl sitting next to her rolled her eyes, but the one who had been chatting to a strange for the better part of an hour now ignored her.

She suspected the older girl was accustomed to ignoring the younger. She herself could usually ignore people quite well and easily, but this story was intriguing. "So tell me," she asked, yellow eyes glowing, "which one would die for you?" Her bracelets dangled on her blue wrist as she lifted her glass.

"That's just the thing," the brunette was quick to reply. "They both would."

"At least you have two good people to choose from," a redhead muttered. The three women looked to where she was sitting with two other women. The mutant knew, with one look, that the trio had to be related.

"Yeah, all we ever seem to get is the dregs of the litter."

"Every one of us has dated Warlocks, Demons, you name it." The oldest of the three genlty stroked the younger redhead's arm. "Heck, the first man I almost married only wanted to kill me for my power!"

"That can be rough," another brunette further down the bar spoke, "but at least, you don't have to put a man under a spell to get one." She smiled, her eyes twinkling merrily. "I actually know a woman who did that -- "

"Mom," the fully grown blonde woman who could not have been much younger than the brunette hissed through gritted teeth. "Regina did not put a spell on Graham just so he would have sex with her."

"We don't know that, honey."

"If she did, at least she didn't impregnate him," a blonde chimed in. She took another sip of her drink as a tall warrior placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I'll never forget the time a Demonic God forced me to have his child." She shuddered but quieted as the warrioress rubbed her shoulder.

"Of course," the warrioress spoke quietly, her words really intended only for the blonde, "that was before we fell in love."

She grinned. "Yeah. Way before." She turned her head and kissed her warrioress.

"At least you were able to make the decision to fall in love," the first brunette groused. "I don't know what I'm going to do if they ever make me choose."

"Oh, Bo, honey, lighten up. They're not gonna do that. They're both way too scared you wouldn't choose them to make you choose."

"Choices can be hard," another brunette with a dragon perched on top of her shoulder agreed.

"You should know," a Japanese girl sitting next to her put in. "How many have you been through now?"

The first girl sighed. "Too many," she admitted, "and every one of them with their own problems. One left me to protect me when I am so more than capable of protecting myself. Another left me because he went all dark on me. Ororo's treating me like a child, and sometimes I wonder if Illyana or Rachel are the same ones I loved before."

"I knae it's hard fer ye," a redhead Scot sitting next to the girl with the dragon and the Japanese teenager spoke, rubbing her back, "but at least ye've nae been impregnated by a Demon."

"No. Only my aliens. Twice."

"Still beats birthin' th' son o' evil as we've done." The Scot inclined her head toward the blonde, who had lost all interest in the conversation and was now making out with her warrioress.

The eldest of the three sisters sighed. "Why does love have to be so complicated?"

"It doesn't," the mother of the blonde started to say, but another, shorter blonde snorted derisively.

"Yeah, right. Haven't you been listening to these women and their stories?"

The woman called Bo looked the blonde up and down, taking in her clothes and the stakes she thought she was hiding, until a scowling brunette, sitting on the opposite side of the blonde from another redhead, caught her eye. She shook her head once, and Bo looked back to her drink. She had too many toys to play with at home than to get into a fight over a potential third.

"Let me tell you, woman. I've had my share of bad luck in love, too. Hell, I had to kill both of the two men I've really loved."

The brunette finished her whiskey in a single gulp while the redhead at the blonde's side quietly spoke, "It wasn't your fault, Buffy. You had no choice but to kill Angel -- "

"If I'd only waited a little while longer, Wills, you would've had him back."

"Angelus wasn't letting you wait. If you had waited, you would have been dead."

"So?" Buffy grinned. "You would've brought me back."

Willow's green eyes fell to her drink, and she sipped it quietly.

"This is too damn depressing," snarled the blue-skinned mutant, who was determinedly ignoring the way the trio of young women with the purple dragon was watching her over their drinks. "We should kill something."

"Sounds good to me," the brunette next to Buffy quickly agreed.

"I'm in," Bo chimed.

"I've had to kill too much," Buffy lamented. The brunette's hand almost touched the redhead's as it moved to Buffy's back. The two exchanged a quick look before both dropped their hands.

"Me too." The Scot sighed into her drink.

Kitty Pryde watched her friend. Lockheed, the dragon on her back, cooed. He moved over to Rahne's shoulder and rubbed his scaly, purple head against her cheek until she petted him. They both remembered when Rahne hadn't drank at all. Now she did so rarely, but still too often for a girl who hated what alcohol could do to a person.

Kitty's eyes turned back to the only mutant woman sitting across the bar. "And if you're here to kill somebody, Mystique, you should know we'll stop you."

"I've got your back," Jubilee quickly told her.

Mystique sneered and put her glass down. "You kids really think you could take me?"

Jubilee jerked her dark head in Kitty's direction. "She took out Sabertooth not too long ago. You really want to tangle with all three of us?"

Mystique smirked. "You're sounding more and more like your old man, little Jubilation."

"Come closer, and find out just how much like Wolverine I am."

"Let's not fight," the oldest of the Halliwell sisters spoke.

"Oh, let them fight if they want to."

"I'm tired of fighting, Phoebe. I just want a little peace."

"We'll have peace," Faith told her, "when we're dead."

Buffy looked up forlornly. "That's the only time, isn't it?" she asked.

Emma Swan put her glass down. She had been listening to the conversation drifting all around her, and now each of the women at the bar, all who looked both so beautiful and more than capable of whupping any man's butt, looked almost ready to start crying. She knew how to shut their tears down before they could begin, but still she hesiated. She hadn't told any one what had happened in New York, not Hook or her mother or even Henry.

She raised her glass and downed the remainder at once. Then, placing it back down, she spoke, "I bet I can beat all your stories about bad dates." She stole a sideways glance at her mother.

"Really?" Snow asked.

"Really." Emma nodded.

"Better than a Warlock who dated you only because he was waiting for your powers to kick in so he could kill you and take them?" Piper asked.

Emma nodded again.

"Better than a Demon who wanted to make you his Queen of Hell?"

"Oh, yeah."

"Better than an evil Leprechaun?"

"Much."

"Better than a man who thought was good and pure until you found him screwing Vampiresses before he killed them?"

"Way." Emma grinned. She was beginning to get all their interest and pull them away from their own sad stories. Making her new allies smile would certainly be worth a little embarrassment. Besides, they had all shared their stories.

"Better than a blood-craved murderer?" Mystique flashed a smile at Shadowcat, Jubilee, and Wolfsbane. "Not that Creed isn't fun. He does have his moments," she admitted.

"Definitely."

"Well, what are you waiting for?" Bo demanded.

"Yeah," Kenzi agreed, "go ahead and tell us already, girl!"

Emma looked at each of them in turn, starting with her mother and ending with the crowd of expectant faces at the end of the bar. "I dated, and almost married, a . . . " She paused. Her listeners leaned forward eagerly. She grinned. "Flying monkey!"

"No way!"

"Sure did," Emma nodded with a self-depreciating smile.

"You never told me that!" Snow exclaimed.

"I wasn't going to," she admitted.

"Wow, and I thought we Halliwells had it bad," Phoebe remarked but smiled when she saw her little sister, who had been the latest to have a bad breakup with an evil Leprechaun, of all things, was finally grinning.

"Like Wizard of Oz flying monkey?" Paige asked.

"The very same."

The girls couldn't help it. Every one of them eventually cracked up, starting with Jubilee, Paige, and Kenzi and ending with even the warrioress breaking off her kiss with her bard and snorting with hearty, booming laughter.

Emma smiled, her cheeks only slightly burning. "Here's to a girls' night out," she said, raising her glass.

Mystique looked around her at the other women. "Hell, why not?" She raised her glass. She hadn't had this much fun since her days with Irene and Rogue! "Next round is on me." She downed her glass and hid a smile behind its brim as all the women at the bar laughed.

The End

Don't worry about not commenting more often: As much as I love getting comments and this one definitely touched me and was much needed at the time it was received, I totally get the delays in comments or the total lack thereof.

I wanted to answer this the first day I got it. It thrilled me so much I felt like shouting with joy and had this big, silly grin on my face. But I didn't have much brain power at the time, having just woken up from a few hours' sleep after a graveyard shift (couldn't get a normal sleep period, because I was working second shift the following day and had to sleep that night), and then things kind of got away from me.

But any way, I am SO SO SO glad you enjoyed this!! As you know, some creations you just so thoroughly enjoy making, and this was one of them. I had a ball writing this. It was the funnest story I've penned in a very long time, but then no one reviewed for such a while that I wondered if it was maybe just me. I am SO glad you enjoyed it and thank you much for your loyal following and for your glowing feedback here! Sorry I didn't reply sooner! :-)
