She stares at her reflection, then turns, steps away, looks back, and stares again. She can see the bruise no matter which way she turns. She's been accustomed to covering up marks on her body for years, but there's something different about this one. Gingerly, she presses two fingers to the mark. She knows it's where a Vampire's bite could be, but this mark was caused by no Vampire. She knows a good girl would hide it, too, regardless of who made it or why, and they also would never have a mark on their flesh caused by what caused this one.
She turns again and once more touches the mark. She should hide it. The whole college will be buzzing with questions when they see it. But she doesn't have to hide any more. Willow and her friends made certain of that. They gave her her freedom and safety, and Willow's given her so much more. It's Willow who gave her this mark, and that, Tara knows, is the reason why she doesn't want to hide it from the world.
She shouldn't have to. She doesn't have to. She turns the collar of her sweater down and looks at the mark once more. She's not going to hide. She's going to let the world know her girlfriend left her mark on her and two girls can love each other passionately while still being good. Smiling for the world to see, Tara heads out to join the girl she loves.
