Vengeance used to be the only thing on her mind. Day in, day out, she'd plan on how she was going to enact vengeance on Snow White for the child's part in her True Love's murder. She dedicated her every waking moment to the score she burned to settle, and her only good dreams came when she dreamed of killing Snow White.
It's so strange, she thinks at times, but now she rarely thinks of vengeance. There are whole days that go by that she neither sees Snow nor even thinks of her. She's become what she thought she would never be. She's become a mother, a family woman, and as she kisses her son good night, her only hopes are for him to have everything he wants in life and always be happy.
Yet, as her dark eyes raise to the stars that she could see shining outside of Henry's window, Regina realizes that isn't completely true. When she thinks of Snow now, she thinks of the life she wants to build for her son, and if she's honest with herself, for herself as well. The hatchet between them is buried; she wants it to stay that way. She wants to be welcomed not only in Henry's life but in those of his family, and that includes Snow White.
But there's more she wants, she knows. She still misses Robin, and his son. She can hear their laughter in her mind as she thinks of them and remembers the way they both used to smile and make her smile. She smiles sadly in fond memory, but there are unshed tears in her dark orbs.
Henry murmurs sleepily. "What, son?" she asks, looking down and feeling guilty that her presence is keeping him awake.
"It's going to happen, Mom," he murmurs, eyes shut tight. He flops over in his bed, turning toward her. "It's going to happen. You're going to have it all. Our dreams are going to come true."
"Of course they are, sweetheart," Regina quickly agrees. She kisses him good night again, then quietly leaves, but as she shuts the door behind her, Henry peers at where she just stood.
"It's going to happen," he tells her again though she can not hear him. "We're all going to get our happy endings." He falls asleep with a smile on his face and a certain, blue star winking knowingly down at them.
