Soap can not rub the marks away. No matter how hard she scrubs, no matter how much of her own flesh she tears, they still remain: the blood of a stranger, the blood of an innocent. She thought she was past this. She thought she was past all the pain and hurting, all the regret, the guilt.
She was wrong.
Gently, the soap is taken from her; her mate slips in behind her. Hands no longer fighting wrap around and still her body. She brings her close to her and kisses where the marks were; finally, Faith can see again.
