She pouted upon opening the refrigerator. "Too many leftovers," she grumbled as Cole shimmered into the kitchen.
"You're not cooking tonight?"
"There'd be nowhere to go with whatever was left. We're going to have to either eat this stuff or throw it away."
"That's okay," he quickly reassured her, bringing her backwards against him in a bear hug. "Your cooking always tastes wonderful, Piper, but I have to admit I've got a different feast on my mind tonight." His kiss on her neck made his intentions clear and entirely vanquished Piper's longing for any other kind of cooking that night.

It was the most dangerous thing he'd ever seen, and yet sometimes, when the sun hit it just right and made it sparkle, it was also one of the most beautiful things Ezra had ever seen. It could mean so many things at once. He could always tell how his day would go with just one look at it. One morning, he was just awakening when a commotion lured him outside to where his "brothers" were already joined in staring down an entire posse of men. Chris smiled; Ezra knew it was going to be a fun day.

She forgets, sometimes, just how blessed she is, and the reminders of God's greatest blessings in her life can come at the most unexpected times and in the most unexpected ways, like right now, when she's being wheeled away for a terrifying surgery. Her room mates, her best friends, her family are standing in the door to the room from whence she was just removed, watching her go, waving at her, and singing about the blasted Yankees coming.
There's no reason for Blanche to like that song and less for it to comfort her, but they're singing it: her best friend, the closest thing she has left to a momma, and the love of her life. Because it's them, the song does comfort her. Blanche strains forward, eagerly trying to catch on to every syllable they sing.
Their voices somehow carry even pass the closed, elevator doors. She listens to them until she can no longer hear them. Their fading voices bring a different kind of tears to Blanche. She knows, suddenly and with perfect clarity, that she's going to make it out of this surgery alive. Sure, she might have an awful scar, but that doesn't really matter (not that she'll ever admit it aloud). What matters are those three women singing to her now and who will be waiting for her return. Blanche smiles through her tears. She's going to make it out of this surgery, because she's got to make it back to them -- and she will.

"You know, most couples have their first date before moving in together and raising a child."
"Most couples don't love like we do," Darkwing retorted angrily. "Now suck gas, evil doer!" He hit the villain so hard that the impact slung the mad scientist off of the building. Instead of running after him to make sure he hadn't killed him, Darkwing smiled smugly and blew the remaining smoke off of his gun.
"DW!" Launchpad exclaimed, clearly shocked.
"He had it coming," Darkwing muttered, still uncharacteristically furious. "How dare he judge us!"
"You did kind of judge him," Launchpad started, but a smile was already pulling at the corners of his beak. His hero loved him enough to possibly kill a villain and, for the first time since he'd known him, apparently not care!
"Dad's right," Gosalyn muttered. "He got what he deserved." She peered over the edge of the skyscraper, expecting to see a splattered scientist below. Her jovial face immediately fell with disappointment. "Nah. He didn't." She grinned. "Not yet."
Darkwing slid between his daughter's foot and Bushroot's reaching fingers just in time. "Now, Gosalyn, we can't kill the bad guy, even if he is a know-it-all who really knows nothing about love." He reached down, slapped handcuffs on the villain, and yanked him back up to the top of the skyscraper. "Besides, young lady, it's past your bed time."
"Hello, Summer! Duh, Dad, really? How can you forget I'm on vacation?"
Darkwing didn't tell her that he hadn't forgotten. How could he, after all, when he and Launchpad were left with no private time together between Gosalyn constantly bouncing up between them and their nightly runs to save the world? "You still need your rest, young lady," he reprimanded instead, "and you're going to bed just as soon as we drop this bad guy off."
"Aw, Dad!" Gosalyn groaned. "Launchpad and I were gonna watch the Three Stooges marathon!"
"Another night, young lady," Dark insisted. He swiftly looked to Launchpad, whose beak was also open to complain. That one look made Launchpad immediately shut his beak. His beloved Darkwing's eyes were not glowering at him with anger. They suggested something entirely different, especially when the left one winked at him, and Launchpad suddenly couldn't wait to get home. Dark had told Bushroot right: No one loved like they did!

Buck cussed as the saloon doors swung shut behind him; Inez's Spanish shouts could be heard all the way out to the street. He grabbed Beavis' reins, but the horse bucked his head and almost bit him when he tightened his grip. "Damn horse, I oughta tan ya!" Buck exploded on the unsuspecting animal, but of course he wouldn't. Women and horses were the orneriest creatures God had ever made, but Buck never wanted to live without either. He quickly got Beavis under control and rode away, wishing Inez also came with a halter and a bit.

"Buck, what're you doin' with Vin's telescope?"
"Ya gotta see this, Nate!"
Suspiciously eyeing the telescope Buck was swinging, Nathan shook his head and told him sternly, "Uh uh. I ain't gotta see nutin through no telescope on April Fool's Day, and I ain't gonna stop Vin when he gets hold o' you."
Vin's thundering exclamation of, "BUCK!", outside immediately sent the culprit running and trying to hide in Nathan's room, which, of course, the good healer would have none of as he called Vin to him.

Spike watched silently in futile desire every time Buffy bit into a juicy hamburger, Xander dipped fries in ketchup, and Willow nibbled chocolate. The loss of savoring food was another sacrifice. The flavors had never been the same after he'd turned. That didn't stop him from cooking or from letting his Nibblet enjoy what he couldn't.
One morning, when he served Dawn fluffy pancakes drowning in golden, maple syrup like he'd enjoyed in his youth, Spike was unprepared for her gratitude. He licked his lips after she kissed him. Now, that truly was a taste to savor throughout the ages!

Desperate times called for desperate measures, Lex Luthor decided, hitting the button that would change the world. Surely, there had never been a more desperate time than now. He could not allow the man he loved to die without knowing that he still, and would always, love him! Rockets soared into the midnight air and exploded high above the Earth. Glittering words fluttered slowly back down to the sky where they could be seen.
Lex turned as they drifted and watched Superman's reaction on his monitors where he could see the Justice League of America preparing for what the whole world thought would be their final battle. He saw Clark's eyes widen and his rosy lips part in silent amazement, and as Lex smiled with the knowledge that his man knew he loved him, so, too, did Clark's still lips twist into a happy grin.
Above him, outside of the world of the country boy turned superhero's dreams, Lex Luthor really did look upon his love and smile. His nimble fingers reached out and gently swept Clark's dark curls away from his face. He hated leaving him without a true kiss, but he had been out late again last night saving the galaxy.
Lex had to leave, and he wasn't about to wake him. He pressed a swift, butterfly kiss over his sleeping eyes, glanced one last time at their shared night stand to make sure everything was in order, and forced himself to leave. If he could, he would gladly spend all day and night in their home making love to the man he loved, but some one had to pay the bills and Clark's world-saving habits could sometimes run a pretty penny.
When Clark did awaken much later that day, he found the card, roses, and hundred dollar bill his man had left for him. He smiled as he traced his name and the X's and O's that followed Lex's scrawled declaration that he would always be his. It was no fireworks display, but his heart swelled all the same with his knowledge that his man loved him.
