They sit together in front of the people who once feared and hated one of them and yet followed and adored the other one's mother. They sit together before the town, feeling like they're sitting before the world, and trying to ignore their stares. They sit together, oblivious to Mary Margaret's harsh stare not at them but at the others, a silent warning to leave them alone.
Regina sighs as the fireworks begin lighting up the night sky. She slides even closer to Emma and lets her head rest on her shoulder. It's been a long, hard week, but she can almost forget about all over which they have triumphed in the glow of the fireworks. Hesitantly, Emma slips her arm around the former Queen.
Regina lays her head on the blonde's shoulder with a soft sigh. Regina reaches up to Emma's hand; their fingers interlace. Henry watches them along with the rest of the town, but he grins. They don't see their child's smile tonight, however, for tonight, they only have eyes for each other.
Regina sighs again, and Emma's sigh mingles with hers. The week is forgotten. The world is forgotten. For right now, it's only the two of them, a beautiful, night sky, and the peace and love they share. Too bad it won't last. No peace every lasts for long in Storybrooke, but they'll triumph over all their trials, Queen and savior together as is destined.
The End
