"We have to stop doing this," Emma says, knowing her mother's awake although she has not yet spoken. Emma's been awake for a long time, thinking as the sun basks her, adding heat to the golden warmth she already felt.
"Doing what?"
"You know what."
"Sleeping in so late -- "
"Not that. Stop playing. You know exactly what I mean."
"Emma -- "
"We have to! What's Henry going to think? What are the others going to think if they find out? What's David going to think?"
"He already knows."
"What?!"
"He knows, and he agrees with me that we should keep doing this as long as you want to."
"This is crazy!"
"No, it's not. We love you, Emma. We missed out on way too much when you were growing up without us. We want to give you whatever future you want. We want you to be happy and to be here for you however you choose. As long as my being here with you, like this," she continues, slowly sweeping her hand over her daughter's breasts covered only in their thin sheet and lower, "I'm going to be here."
"But," she pauses, taking a deep breath, "if you really want me to leave -- "
"No! I don't! I just don't want the others -- "
"You are my Princess, Emma. You are my daughter and my world. I love you, and I don't care what the rest of the world thinks. I'm yours, for as long as you want me." Snow silences any further protests Emma may have with her kiss.
