Her heart was full of grief the day she again saw a flash of white skin and gold hair in her forest. She stopped, and the whole forest seemed to still with her. She knew John Smith was gone. She'd finally accepted he was not returning, but she wasn't prepared for the beauty she spotted dancing just beyond Grandmother Willow's sweeping leaves. "Grandmother?" she asked uncertainly.
"Go, my child," the old tree coaxed with a kind and knowing smile. "This one will not hurt you as he did." And indeed, she has not.
Aurora has been here for her every day since their first, pivotal meeting. Pocahontas has finally stopped dashing madly through the woodlands as though she can escape the pain that once threatened to engulf her, too often diving off of mountains. She's no longer in pain; she's learned to love again instead.
Grandmother trusted the beautiful, white woman first; then the animals came to her. Meeko was,as always, easily won over with food, and Percy gave him up to belly rubs. Flit's trust was the second hardest for the blonde to win, and when the hummingbird finally lit on the Princess' finger, Pocahontas' own walls crumbled away. Now they dance together every day. They roll in the lush, green grass and work together to protect the animals from the local white men who would take relish in killing them. And when Pocahontas does run, Aurora keeps perfect pace with her. She's the only one who ever has.
