Our Babies: Our Teenagers

Elliot is one of Fonzie's and Tiger's two remaining boys. His sweet face reminds us constantly of a baby lion, which is where he got his nickname "lion cub". He was originally named Elliot after Leverage's Elliot and named himself Daniel one day when we spoke the name for some reason (don't remember why) and he came to instant attention. He'll answer to any of the three and absolutely loves attention. He's definitely one of our sweetest and most handsome babies!

Chancy and his brother, Blaze, went missing at the same time, but he was the only one to return. His return was a miracle for which we are still grateful. Although we'll always miss Blaze and Medes (and their father and the others we've lost over the years), we'll also always be thankful for still having Chancy and Elliot and the others we still have, of course.
Of his brothers, Chancy is the one who looks the closest to the traditional Siamese. He also loves to explore. We worry about him, especially after what happened, but it seems an impossible task to keep him indoors. He's ripped open a wall more than once, when we were asleep or gone to work, for example, to get outdoors. We caved to his feline instincts to hunt but continue to pray every day for his safety and the others'.
I've sang to Chancy since he was a baby about taking a chance on the Chancy, and he's always enjoyed the song. I'm glad we got the opportunity to take a chance on the Chancy for he's one of our sweetest boys ever and we do love him dearly! Of course, though, we also love all our babies dearly! :-)

Batmite was our first rescue upon returning home. She had been thrown out at a hunting/murdering lodge, and we saved her just before their coming dogs would have taken her. She bonded with me first but has since largely become my Dad's cat.
He was also the one who named her, but the story of her name is a little funny. He had originally named her Bat Mat after Bat Masterson, but we never quite got that. We honestly thought he'd named her Batmite because of her tiny size and had no clue that wasn't the case until much later when he finally corrected us.
She's also since gotten the nickname of BJ after the first life she spent with us and sadly was shortened far too early. She never got to be a big kitty then, was barely more than a few weeks when we lost her. The poor baby never really got a chance that time, but this time, our determination to give her one has won out: She turns 2 years old this coming April (2014)!

We spent hours in a WalMart parking lot when a hurricane was coming working on rescuing a tiny kitten. My beloved, Drew, finally caught him, with lures of old hot dogs from the store that she worked at at the time, but he has since become a definite Mama's boy. I named him Jareth Tobias, but he quickly earned the nickname of "Muffin" because he loves human food and most especially sweets. He went through a time of wanting to be wild when he first got outdoors, and I was reminded him how terrible JTs usually act (Step By Step's being a primary example). I officially made "Muffin" his middle name -- Jareth Muffin Tobias --, and he has since calmed down, learned to go out as he wants on the good days, come inside at night without being bribed with potato chips or sweets, and stay in at night and in too questionable weather, and has gotten to where he runs for my attention when outdoors.
Jareth is a true sweetheart. He's cute, affectionate, and loves to play, and there's something else cute he does although he's embarrassed when he's caught doing it: He snores and even grunts often in his sleep! He's so adorable!

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star is another whom we've been blessed to be given back in a new life and another who didn't get a real chance the first time around, when her own feline mother accidently laid on her while every one was asleep and ceased her breathing. Her loss was truly tragic, but it's so great to have her back!
Twinkle loves both other cats and dogs. I've yet to see her be scared of anybody. She's had several mates in her lifetime thus far, including our sweet Jareth boy and my beloved Drew's previous dog, Papi! Yes, that's right: A cat did a dog! And yes, before any one thinks anything bad, she was always the one to make the first move on Papi. She actually taught that dog all about the birds and bees, the feline and canine way! Indeed, Papi and Jareth used to fight over her until we finally got the threesome broken up!

Miette is named after a Muskcateer from Barbie's The Princess and the Pauper. He's considerably larger and more talkative than his little sister, Donatello, and, we have reason to believe, is half brother to Twinkle. The other one from that group, Mavis, is sadly no longer with us.
Miette, like most toms and most of our babies, is a sweetheart but, growing up, was easily spooked. I used to sing to him about being a Muskecateer. I convinced him that's what he wanted to be, and rarely have I seen him scared since. He's really a fine Muskecateer!

Donatello Drake was one of those kitties whose name we couldn't quite settle upon. We ended up naming her after both a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Donatello, and an X-Man, Bobby Drake aka Iceman. She's as fun and frisky as Bobby ever was, and her song is all about being "Donatello the mellow kitty".
She does have one bad habit, though: She's the world's worst for getting on other babies' cans! She's pass the age of needing them herself and, in fact, needs to stay away from moist food as it doesn't agree with her digestion. Try telling her that, though! Thing is, though: That's really the only thing this sweet feline does wrong!
