It will officially be two weeks tonight that we've been keeping all our babies in.  It's not the best lives for them, but it's infinitely better than the alternative.  At least now they're safe.  There was a small part of me that wondered if maybe we were wrong about the poison, but so far, everybody's doing just fine whereas before it was getting to where we were losing some one every two weeks or so.

My beloved Jack's mouth is doing much better, and we've had a little success with his ears.  A scab fell out the other day, so we're guessing maybe something with his mouth infection caused a sore inside his ears, beyond what we can see and deal with.  He's been doing better ever since.

I'm actually starting to get back to cooking, and it feels good.  I made us a key lime pie and a banana cream pie last week, and we just finished the last piece of the banana today.  Made a fudgy strawberry cheesecake pie today, and actually added a whipped cream topping for the first time with this pie.  I didn't realize until I made the pies last week that I've finally gotten my beloved to liking whipped cream.

We're starting to watch the premiere of Falling Skies.  Doesn't do a thing for me, but my love wants to see it so watch it we will, to paraphrase Yoda.  I'm hoping to be working on posting some fics during the show.

We're actually staying home today.  We've got crap we need to deal with, like our wheels acting up, but I finally put my foot down.  It's been weeks since we got to stay home, and I simply told my love that there's no way we're going out today.  Finally convinced him to stay home.  I was going to hide the keys if I couldn't, so one way or another, we'd be staying home.  :-)  We need it, and so do the babies.  It's good for all of us.  We got 2/3 of the babies brushed today, too, even though they don't particularly like it.  The one cat I thought liked it is getting to where he doesn't even like it.  I don't know where they get these stories about cats liking to be brushed from; out of our beloved 24 babies, no one cares for it.

Hope you all have good, or at least better, days.

April sighed. She was growing exhausted of the dating game, having just been stood up again the previous night. Her spirits were as gloomy as the rainy day, but yet, when she saw movement and lifted her eyes to the studio's rooftop, her eyes lit up. She'd have a dinner date tonight, after all! She smiled a silent greeting; her whole face sparkled with her joy.

The Ninja Turtle grinned as he adored the gift of April's smile. Then, before he could be seen, he slunk back into the shadows. He would come again, however, and soon, to claim what was his.

April entered the building, still smiling and even beginning to whistle a merry tune. Erma looked up expectantly. "So the date went well?"

"No," April admitted with a sly smile, her eyes twinkling, "but it will." She continued to whistle as she moved forward to her next adventure, her eyes and heart shining with a brilliant, loving green, while her turtle bounded across the city's rooftops, his own heart and soul a radiant, beautiful green. Both human and turtle shone with their joy and waited with eager expectancy, their thoughts filled with each other, until they could meet again.

Title: "Country Paradise"
Author: Pirate Turner
Rating: G
Summary: Clark teaches his beloved Lex a fine reason to like country music.

Although neither Clark or Lex felt complete without the other, there were still things about each other which they were constantly struggling to understand. Lex had succeeded in reaching an understanding and even adoring most of Clark's country ways, but he still struggled to understand a few things, like his affinity for greens, his seemingly never-ending appetite, and his preference of country music. He still wished, every time Clark turned on a country station, that something would happen to the radio.

One Spring day, Lex finally found a reason to like such music. They were riding together in Mister Kent's truck. Clark was driving with one arm wrapped around Lex, and though the ride was jostling and yokels were screeching on the radio, their close snuggling still filled Lex with joyous warmth. His eyes lifted to his love in surprise when Clark began to shyly sing along with the radio in his deep voice. Despite the radio's screeching, Lex soon heard only his sweet Clark, and he reveled in a country love song for the first time.

When they came to a stop shortly thereafter, Lex found his breath stolen away by the sight before them. A meadow, filled only with butterflies, wild flowers, green grass, and blue sky, stretched before them for miles on end. Lex's heart went leaping beyond the fluffy, white clouds when Clark opened his door with his arms full of a blanket, take-out Chinese, and one of his mother's pitchers of sweet tea. Lex's heart soared and did loops of perfect joy throughout the sky as he accepted his love's hand and slipped into paradise. Right then and there, he secretly swore to never again be bothered by country's silly love songs for he never knew what other sweet treats might be waiting just beyond.

Title: "Damned"
Author: Pirate Turner
Rating: PG
Summary: Kitty knows there's nothing else she'd rather be than damned, if indeed she must be damned by the incredible love she shares with Ororo.
Warnings: Femme Slash, Established Relationship, Drabble
Word Count: 500
Date Written: 18 February, 2011
Challenge/Prompt: Slash the Drabble's weekly challenge: "Damned"
Disclaimer: Katheryne "Kitty" "Shadowcat" Pryde, Ororo "Storm" Munroe, and the X-Men are © & TM Marvel comics and Disney, not the author; are used without permission; and may not be used without permission.         We're damned. I hear it every day in every way. The very people whose lives we risk everything to protect are the ones who shout it the loudest. They fear our wonderful powers that we love and that enable us to save their sorry butts. They sneer at us when they see your dark skin or my star of David. They freak out when you speak to your Goddess. They give us a wide berth on the streets when we're out walking together, your arm lovingly draped around my shoulders, and when we kiss . . .

I swear, 'Roro, when we kiss, the whole world stops, but it doesn't just stop because our love is so awesome. All the idiots stop and stare, and I'm so tired of it. I'm so tired of saving humans who get their own butts in the crack and then want to condemn and flee from us when we show up to save them. I'm so tired of the hatred and pain. I'm so tired of hearing how damned we are for the very thing that I treasure most in life.

I love you, Windrider, and if we are damned because of our love, then it's the most beautiful and wonderful way ever to be damned. I'll always take this so-called damnation gladly over a whole world of love and acceptance for you're all I want and really need.

When you lift us up into the sky and I nuzzle my face into your long, white hair, it's as though we really have left them all behind. There is no hatred or prejudice up here. There's only you, me, and our love in our very own world, and the world that we fight for, that fears and hates us for being so different, for daring to love each other in this maddening life, really does go away.

It just melts away, ceases to exist, and I'm reminded again that it didn't really matter in the first place. This, being with you with your strong, satiny, and chocolaty arms around me, holding me tight against your heart, loving me as I love you, this is what matters. A lifetime of being with you and celebrating our love, rather it's in front of the world or in our own private paradise, is what I'm really fighting for in every battle. You are my reason for living, for loving, and for existing.

If we really are damned because of this wondrous love, then all I can say is . . . Come ahead and damn me, baby, 'cause I don't want to be saved! I want to love you forever and beyond, and that's exactly what I'm going to do! You whisper, "I love you!" When I say the words back, I'm screaming through the heavens, because up here, there's no one to damn us, no reason to hide, and I let it all show as I ravish you, showing you exactly how much I do and always will love only you, my Queen!
